Mais Uma Semana Na Favela

Another late email but this week has been awesome. Its shifting from like winter to spring right now in brazil so its getting progressively more hot, buy im getting used to it. This week there has been a lot of sickness and change this week, but we still had an awesome week. I started off my week with food poisioning for the first two or three days which was not fun with no ac and walking 10 miles a day but it got better. After 2 days I got a preisthood blessing and immediately started to feel better. The power of the priesthood is something that is so sacred and an awesome priveledge to be able to bless my life and the lives of others with. Another Elder in our district has also been way sick this week, but still has yet to get better. He has been in bed for almost a week now, so keep Elder Tumbaco in your prayers. Because he was sick I was able to go on a division with his comp. He is from chile and knows even less english than my comp. He definitely helped my portuguese and took me ...

Second Week

Sorry for the late email today, but the pday today was awesome. I was able to eat american food for the second time in brazil which was awesome. And by american food i mean burger king haha. Today I also was able to have a nap, play soccer, and get to know some of the elders and sisters in my zone. And to wrap up the pday we had pepperoni pizza with chocolate crust This week has been super eye opening and very tiring. It started off way rough with us losing a few investigators and not being able to contact others, but we kept pushing through. We were able to find some new investigators who seem very intrested in the church and are super nice. Also one family we have been teaching who were falling off, started to want to know more this week and two of them even came to church with us.  I seen and eaten a lot of crazy stuff this week. Ive aten a lunch meat casserole, some steak that was probably composed of 97% fat, and some mango icecream that expired in 2018. But despite all this I...

I Made It To Brazil

This week has been crazy. It started with leaving the MTC. I got to finally eat some good food in the SLC airport. I ate cafe rio and panda within the span of three hours. Then i flew to Atlanta. We ate quickly in Atlanta and then got on another plane to São Paulo. This plane ride was terrible. We flew during the middle of the night and i probably only slept for like 2 hours of the 10. We landed in brazil at like 5 in the morning and got off the plane with stairs because the airport was so small that the plane was to big for the terminal. After that we went and got our luggage. This is where everthing went bad. I went to the carosel and found one of my bags. I was looking for my other bag, but it wasn't there. As the number of bags coming through the shoot got less and less i started to worry. My district all left because they didnt want to wait with me. I waited for another like 30 minutes with no luck. After that I realized i was alone in an airport in a foreign country where i d...

WEEK 5: I Leave Tomorrow

Image
This week has been the best week and most tiring week of the mtc by far. I finished my week of FSL which was awesome. I've been getting good at having small conversations in Portuguese but I'm about to get humbled haha. We took the EI assessment this week which tests your fluency in a language. I got the highest score in my class with a 4.1 which was super cool. With a 4 or above you can at least survive in brazil so at least I won't die right off the bat. So the language has been alright, but I'm way excited to see how people actually talk in the next few days.  We kept the streak of fast food going this week and it was awesome. We were able to go to the temple on Tuesday and then snuck over to canes after. Breaking the rules right after going to the temple probably wasn't the best choice, but hopefully the blessings from it canceled out our disobedience. The second time we got fast food this week was from my companion's uncle. He threw us 12 burgers and fries ...
