Mais Uma Semana Na Favela
Another late email but this week has been awesome. Its shifting from like winter to spring right now in brazil so its getting progressively more hot, buy im getting used to it. This week there has been a lot of sickness and change this week, but we still had an awesome week. I started off my week with food poisioning for the first two or three days which was not fun with no ac and walking 10 miles a day but it got better. After 2 days I got a preisthood blessing and immediately started to feel better. The power of the priesthood is something that is so sacred and an awesome priveledge to be able to bless my life and the lives of others with. Another Elder in our district has also been way sick this week, but still has yet to get better. He has been in bed for almost a week now, so keep Elder Tumbaco in your prayers. Because he was sick I was able to go on a division with his comp. He is from chile and knows even less english than my comp. He definitely helped my portuguese and took me out of my confort zone. I was just suppose to be observing his lesson and bro says "agora, Elder Foster vai ensinar vocês sobre os dez mandimentos." Transltion: "Elder Foster is going to teach you to keep the commandments for baptism, and tell you what you are doing wrong, all without using manners or being light with the words he says because he doesnt know anything. Haha. Aftet lecturing these people for 10 minutes about keeping the commandments, with a 5 year olds level of vocab they eventually agreed. Im not sure if it was the spirit or the fact that they felt sorry for me, but i am grateful they have agreed to live the commandments and journey on their covenant path.
The rest of my week was pretty average with the regular schedule.
Today we played fut mesa, which is like the ping pong version of soccer which was way fun. I beat all the americans and about half the brazilians, but some of the brazilians here are just built different.
I am super grateful for my oppertunity to be in brazil with so many members of the church and in an awesome community of loving selfless people. This week has flew by and everday I learn a bit more portuguese, so Im excited for the point when i can communicate normally.
Ate proxima pday
Elder Foster
