I Made It To Brazil
This week has been crazy. It started with leaving the MTC. I got to finally eat some good food in the SLC airport. I ate cafe rio and panda within the span of three hours. Then i flew to Atlanta. We ate quickly in Atlanta and then got on another plane to São Paulo. This plane ride was terrible. We flew during the middle of the night and i probably only slept for like 2 hours of the 10. We landed in brazil at like 5 in the morning and got off the plane with stairs because the airport was so small that the plane was to big for the terminal. After that we went and got our luggage. This is where everthing went bad. I went to the carosel and found one of my bags. I was looking for my other bag, but it wasn't there. As the number of bags coming through the shoot got less and less i started to worry. My district all left because they didnt want to wait with me. I waited for another like 30 minutes with no luck. After that I realized i was alone in an airport in a foreign country where i didnt know the language. With only one hour until my plane took off i left my lost bag and went to my terminal.
After getting on and off my plane to recife, i said goodbye to the last elder in my district. From then on ive been alone.
The first day in brazil was awesome. I went to my mission presidents house to eat, and the toured the city. The city is super beautiful, but also super crowded. After that we got to stay in a hotel for the first night. The second day we got to meet our trainers. We had a huge devotional with all the novo missionarios(new missionaries) and trainadors(trainers). We got called off one by one to meet our trainers. There was about 15 new missionarys and 15 trainers. 14 of the trainers were american and one was brazilian. At first i was chillin, the odds of me getting a comp that didnt understand english was almost impossible. After all the trainers and new missionaries met each other, i was with the one brazilian trainer. I wouldnt have it any other way though. My trainer is super awesome. He knows about as much english as I know portuguese so hardly anything, but that doesnt keep us from having a good time. In my district i am the only one who speaks english, everyone else speaks either spanish or portuguese. So on conferencia de zona i yap a lot to the other american missionarys.
I have been walking a lot this week its good and crazy at the sams time. The heat is going to be a huge adjustment. There are also a ton of stairs. Imagine getting on a stair master for 5 hours a day. Its crazy. I have definitely felt the spirt so strong and have seen all sorts of different challenges from the investigators. My zone is very poor and it makes me very grateful for the US and the life i have been so priveldged with. I could yap for another 6 pages about the awesome experiences i have had over the last week but ill keep this one short.
After lots of prayers i ended up getting my bag back. The food here is also so good and i have been able to try all sorts of new foods.
Thanks to everyone for your continued support. If you wanna talk or get bored shoot me an email.
