WEEK 5: I Leave Tomorrow

This week has been the best week and most tiring week of the mtc by far. I finished my week of FSL which was awesome. I've been getting good at having small conversations in Portuguese but I'm about to get humbled haha. We took the EI assessment this week which tests your fluency in a language. I got the highest score in my class with a 4.1 which was super cool. With a 4 or above you can at least survive in brazil so at least I won't die right off the bat. So the language has been alright, but I'm way excited to see how people actually talk in the next few days.

We kept the streak of fast food going this week and it was awesome. We were able to go to the temple on Tuesday and then snuck over to canes after. Breaking the rules right after going to the temple probably wasn't the best choice, but hopefully the blessings from it canceled out our disobedience. The second time we got fast food this week was from my companion's uncle. He threw us 12 burgers and fries over the fence at like 9 at night. He is definitely doing the lord's work. After eating probably the best meal of my night Saturday night, someone in our building pulled the fire alarm. We all had to go outside while the fire department came to make sure everything was ok. It was super annoying, but it was ok because we got some tough pictures and started a mosh pit with church hymns. Then that Sunday night the same thing happened. Everyone was a lot less chill this time and we all tried to find the kid who did it, but were not successful. He's a lucky man I guess. Besides all this stuff, this week was about the same with lots of class and study time.

One spiritual thought I'll share this week is prioritizing the gospel. We had a devotional that talked about the importance of our time and how we use it. It was focused on scripture and gospel study. I think it is super easy to become caught up with the things of the world instead of the things that really matter in life (the gospel of Jesus Christ). I want to challenge everyone to find some time in your day that could be replaced with something more important, like scripture study or servinging others. One scripture that sums this point up perfectly is Matthew 16:25- "for whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it." Heavenly Father knows how much our time throughout the day means to us, which is why sacrificing a portion of it for his sake goes a long way to showing our commitment to him. I know as we sacrifice our time for the lord, that he will bless more than we can imagine.

Thanks everyone for your support of my mission.

Shoot me an email if you ever want to talk and I'll get back to you.
