Última Semana Da Transferência
I've been here one more week which means one more email. This transfer has absolutely blown by without warning. It definitely was one of the more successful transfers that I've had. We brought a ton of people to church and planeted infinite seeds so now we just need farm them. This transfer is going to be dope.
Trading comps is defintely one of the hardest parts of the mission, but this transfer with Elder Ynga was definitely one to remember and we have a ton of cool stories to tell.
This next transfer I get a new comp and I'm staying in the area. Elder Cadiente is my new comp for this transfer. He's was AP last transfer and this is going to be his last transfer. He's from Arizona which is way cool and it's gonna be super cool to learn from him. We are gonna push the limits with how hard we can work and our goal is10 baptisms.
This week was defintely an amazing week to end the transfer off. We saw a ton of miracles and witness the gospel working through the people we are teaching.
Awesome stuff that happend this week:
#1. Baptism of Italo
A couple weeks ago we were headed to a church soccer activity and knew that there wasn't going to be a lot of people there. We decided to stop at a random soccer court and invite a bunch of people to the activity. A ton of people shot us down, but a few of them ended up coming. Italo was one of the kids that came to the activity. He asked me what else we do at the church besides play soccer. We then had an awesome lesson about church and the sacrament with him. We started teaching him and realized that he is cousins with 3 recent converts in the ward. We continued to pass by his house until it was time to get his mom's signature for the baptism. We had an awesome time explaining baptism to her and eventually got the ok to baptize Italo. The only problem was that Italo wasn't home. We asked were he was and his mom responded with "I dont know." I was like "what do you mean, your his mom, its your job to know where he is." She then gave us a general area of where he lives, but she had never been there before. And in this general area lives more people than I have ever seen in my entire life because the city is so dense. We spent the rest of the day looking for Italo with no success. When we got home that night we said a prayer that we would be able to find Italo. The next morning when we woke up a member sent us a message saying that they had found Italo in the road and gotten his address. That morning we went to his house and made sure everything was still good for his baptism. He was still way excited, but also had a lot more to learn, so for the week before we passed by everyday twice a day to be able to teach him everything. Then this Sunday he was baptized in front of his three cousins who are members. This experience helped grow my testimony that God matches our efforts and multiplies them. Also that we can help reactivate inactives by giving them an example. I am super excited to stregthen my testimony together with Italo and his cousins.
#2. Casting out Demons
This week we had an interesting experience to say the least. We were going through all of are media references and visitied a few of them. We went and knocked on his door and it turned out to be the completely wrong address, but while we were there we took the opportunity to share a message with the man and his wife. We went inside and sat down and then stuff started to get weird. They said they didn't have a relgion, but practice black magic for 3 months and then stopped because it was of the devil. Definitely was a strange conversation, but I've seen a lot worse here in Brasil. Then we taught a lesson like normal and ended by asking them what we could to to help them. Almost everyone says prayers or the occasional service project, but the husband looks at us and says "Get the demon out of my wife" like he was just asking for a small favor. After wrapping my head around the stuff he was saying, I asked him more. Then as we were talking I began to realize that every little small sound made his wife start to twitch. I then tried to start talking to his wife, but every question I asked her was answered by the husband. I then asked her how her day was going and told her husband not to answer. Then she finally said something and asked her husband how her own day was going. Long story short we said a prayer to cast the demon out and the next day she was talking to us like a normal person, defintely was the weirdest part of my week.
3#. Getting Cold in Brasil
I got cold for the first time in Brasil. It's still scorching hot in Brasil right now, but we're in the rainy season. This week we had an early teaching appointment and left the house way early. I forgot to bring a rain jack or an umbrella and it started to downpour. We then got drenched head to town in filthy road water, but that didn't stop us. We finsihed all of our lessons that morning and afternoon and then ran back to the house to switch clothes and take showers during lunch. Definitely was one of the only times I've blasted the hot water while taking a shower here.
This transfer has been super awesome and I have witnessed numerous miracles that are continuing to grow and strengthen me as a person and a missionary. I am super happy to be out here and am stoked to see how the next transfer is gonna go in this area.
Até próxima semana
