Mais Uma Semana Na Missão

What's up everyone. I'm one week older in the mission, which means one more email. We're starting to get into thw rainy season here so everyday is either really hot or really haha. This week we focused on reactivating recent converts and tries to find people that had been to church before, but weren't baptized. It was really cool to talk with the people and help bring them back to church.

This week was kinda a normal week in the mish but a few cool things happened.

#1. THE VAN
On Friday we had a division with the other Elders that live 35 minutes away. We didn't want to pay a lot for an uber so we decided to try public transport. We were waiting in line for the bus and some crazy Brazilian pulled up and said that he would take us there for half the price in his van. We then got in his van and 32 more people got shoved in as well. So we put 34 people in a 15 passenger van for a 45 minute drive. Not to mention that its 90 degrees outside and the van didn't have any AC. It was worth it though because we got there for under $3.

#2. When I was on the division with our district leader we went and did a baptismal interview for a kid. He lives with his dad and after we taught him the plan of salvation he said that he wanted to be baptized as well. Due to the fact that he was well on his way to finishing the 6 pack of beer he had bought that day, we taught him the word of wisdom. We then left, bought him a coffee substitute and when we came back he told us we could dump out all his coffee, beer, and cigarettes. It was way cool to see his willingness to try and quit to be baptized, especially because he didnt have a lot of money and we dumped out a ton of stuff.

#3. We all bought orbee guns again and every morning and night we have world war 3 basically.

#4 I ate cow hoof at lunch on sunday. The members hous that we at luch at put cow hoof in the beans we were eating. The lunch was just rice, beans, and beef so it was kinda impossible not to eat it. It actually wasnt that bad. Its like steak but a lot softer and more slimy. Definitely would cook it to eat myself, but I'm finally starting to get into the email worthy type food.
Spiritual Thought

One scripture that I have thought a lot about throughout the mission is 2 Corinthians 2:18

18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

This scripture describes perfectly the perspective we should have in our mission and on life. We always need to realize our true purpose for being here. If we are always focused on returning to our Heavenly Father and the blessing we'll get after this life, than the worldly things will give us less temptation. We know from the scriptures and from the words of the profets that this life is just a fraction of what's to come. I know that if we focus on the important things that we will be rewarded for it in the end.

Até próxima semana
