Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas Everyone. It still doesnt feel like its Christmas Eve today, but whether I'm ready for it or not Christmas is coming and going.

This week for me has been super busy and I have learned a lot. I went on three different divisions this week and every time I went to a different area, so I only worked in my area for about a day and a half.

My first division was on Tuesday with Elder Couch. He is american and just got here 2 weeks ago, so he's still working on the portuguese. His area is more country than mine so it was super awesome. This was an awesome opportunity to put my portuguese to the test because my comp for the day didnt know anything. It was super awesome to see the progress I have made in the language and to communicate pretty much normally with everyone we taught.

The next division was with our LZs. I went to their area with Elder Arce who is from Peru. He only speaks Spanish and Portuguese(or so he says haha). But I learned a lot from him. He is the most diligent missionary I have with served with and has a ton of experience. He only has three months left in the mission and you can tell because pretty much all of our contacts and lessons went smooth as butter. It was super good to learn a bunch of new things from him and to see the blessing of being completely obedient. What was funny is I asked him if he spoke english when the division started and he said no, and then that night when we got done teaching he asked if he could practice his english with me and the man is fluent haha.

The third division was with Elder Gonçalves. He is our old AP and is now an APV, which is basically an assistant to the president for traveling. He also has a ton of experience, is 100% obedient, and loves to put you on the spot. A few times he handed me a portuguese book of Mormon and then says to teach about a random gospel principle that isnt even in preach my gospel, mind you he does this in front of a whole family that thinks I know all the scriptures like the back of my hand, on the spot. The personal study is definitely coming in clutch. This division I also went inside the first house of my mission with air conditioning and the biggest, which is still smaller than the average apartment in the U.S., but it was sick to eat lunch with some AC.

I'm super grateful for all the missionarys in my mission who are so diligent and set a good example for me. It's super easy to stay diligent and work hard when everyone else is too.

This week we moved to a bigger house which is way nicer. Its super nice to have a better house, but it sucked to move everything. I think the new house is a little less than a mile away, but we had to carry everything by hand walking, including mattresses, fans, suitcases, our food, and everything else we had in the house. 4 trips later and we finally got everything moved and done.

Today President Smith lifted the soccer ban just for one pday because of Christmas. We definitely took advantage of it. Our zone played soccer for like half the day despite it being 90 degrees. I didn't realize how much I have missed playing soccer until I started playing it again today.

Tomorrow for Christmas, our zone has the opportunity to visit a children's cancer hospital which I have been looking forward to. I am super excited to get to know some of the kids there. It reminds me that someone else's situation is always situation is worse than our and we need to been grateful for what we have instead of what we don't. I am super privileged to be here in brazil, preaching the true gospel and serving the lord.

Christmas in brazil is super cool. Obviously, my area doesn't have a lot of money, but everytime I ask them if theyre excitied for Christmas they always say there super excited to be with there families and to have christmas dinner. Its super cool to see that everyone is so excited about christmas even though they're not getting anything super expensive or cool.

I hope you guys all have a Merry Christmas because I sure will. I am going to link a christmas talk from President Monson, that I have listened to a ton and has changed my perspective about this christmas.

Até próxima semana e final do ano
Feliz Natal
Elder Foster
