Baptisms And Salmonella
Sorry to everyone who was waiting on my email last week that I didn't write, but I have a good excuse.
Last week my stomach started to feel super sick around Saturday morning, but not wanting to stop working, I popped a couple pepto-bismol and went on my way. The rest of Saturday I felt super sluggish, but I made it through. On Sunday the next morning I felt even worse, so I figure it was food poisoning and still we continued to walk and pick-up people for church that morning, because food poisoning is basically just a weekly occurrence here haha. We had a baptism that Sunday and after that I went home and slept. When I woke up from my nap I felt like my stomach was going to jump out of my body. Long story short I got samonella, the next three and a half days I spent on the edge of death, went to the hospital twice l, went on every drug imaginable, and killed the 250 pack of wet wipes I bought.
While this was defintely was one of the hardest weeks of my mission, it was also one of the most testimony building and grateful weeks of my mission.
I am super grateful for everyone who prayed and fasted for me. I received a ton of texts one night from my close family and friends saying they were all praying, fasting, and supporting me. After that, I was finally able to sleep for one night and woke up feeling one-hundred times better. I truly know that this was a miracle and the power of god. While this might not have seemed like a huge thing, I am certain that it was not a coincidence that I felt better after all these prayers to Heavenly Father. I am so extremely grateful for the support that I have on my mission, as well as my health, that I have constantly took for granted.
On a better note, this transfer has been lit so far. Last week my comp and I worked super super hard. We had the best numbers in our zone and worked hard enough to even recieve a congratulations from the president. We have been able to teach lessons with a ton of new converts, which helps our investigators come to church.
We were able to find 20 new people this week and marked 3 people for baptism despite only working for a day and a half.
We also had the opportunity to go to zone conference this week. The theme was obviously christmas and it was awesome to learn more about our savior, Jesus Chirst. Not going to lie I have kind of been bummed out because I am not with any of my family and friends this christmas, but president changed my whole perspective. He said his best christmas was on his mission, when he and his companions put their money together to give some orphans christmas presents. So at zone conference we made stockings and get to feel them with all sorts of goods and then visit an orphanage christmas morning. I am more excited to give my stocking to one of those kids than I have ever been giving a present to anyone else. The christmas spirit truly is about giving and showing the saviors love to others.
One other cool thing is we got to go on a sick pontoon boat today and tour the coast of Recife.
Until next week
