Week 2

The second week of the MTC was definitely a lot longer than the first one, but it has still been awesome. This week we went into immersion so starting Thursday, every single class we have is taught in portuguese. I have definitely learned a lot of portuguese in just three days, but sometimes I just feel like I'm listening to the teachers yap haha. This week we went to the Mount Timp temple which was absolutely amazing. We got to do baptisms and initiatories. I felt the spirit so strongly in the temple and got to catch up on my scripture study while we waited to do ordinances which was awesome. My comp and I decided to read the whole BOOK OF MORMON before we leave the MTC so it has been a lot, but has been awesome to have a goal that we're working on together.

Something else that was super cool this week was getting to have a devotional where Elder Bednar spoke to us in person. He talked about the truth of the BOM and how it would have been impossible for Joseph Smith to make it up. After Elder Bednar came, I've tried to listen to some of his past conference talks. One of them that hit me super hard was whether it's the holy ghost speaking to us or if it is our own thoughts. He said "It doesn't matter, quit worrying about it." That was awesome to hear because it shouldn't matter if we get prompted or if we just do something, if it is something good we should do it. He then went on to say that if we are keeping our covenants, living the commandments, striving to be like Christ, and "being good boys" that the holy ghost will be with us. As I thought about it a question came to my mind, if we are always living as good as we can, is there ever a point where the holy ghost isn't with us? I don't think there is. If we keep our promise to god then we'll always have his spirit to be with us.

While I'm super excited to go to the mission field, the MTC has been super awesome in teaching me more about Jesus Christ and living/ applying the principles he taught to my life. I hope everyone is doing good. If you want to talk just shoot me an email whenever and I'll try to get back to you on my p-day.
